Summer Music Festivals and Concerts in Santa Barbara Wine Country
SANTA BARBARA—What goes best with nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc
on a warm summer evening (besides great company and a plate of
cheese and crackers, of course)? How about an alfresco concert—jazz,
blues, pop or classical—on the lawn of a local winery or sitting
out in the park? Throughout the summer, live musicians will be
appearing at various venues in Santa Barbara's Wine Country,
strumming, singing and celebrating this season of barbeques and
vacations.
We've put together some of the best events in the region during
July and August. Bring your lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and
laid-back summertime attitude.
July 4--All-American BBQ & Concert
The Santa Barbara Symphony presents a free, patriotic July 4th
Pops Concert in the Sunken Garden of the County Courthouse
at 5pm. San Francisco Symphony Resident Conductor Edwin Outwater
leads the Symphony in a program saluting American composers
and America’s cultural diversity. The Santa Barbara Choral
Society will sing “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “The Battle
Hymn of the Republic.” Elements Restaurant BBQ at the Sunken
Garden, Santa Barbara. $12 per person
July 6--Concerts In The Park: The Estrada Brothers
A popular LA Afro-Cuban Jazz ensemble, the Estrada Brothers,
plays at Chase Palm Park, Cabrillo Boulevard at Calle Casar
Chavez (Salsipuedes), Santa Barbara. Free, starting at 6 p.m.

July 9--Concerts In The Park: Foggy Dew
A night of traditional Irish music by local band, Foggy Dew.
Alameda Park, Micheltorena and Santa Barbara Streets, Santa
Barbara. Free, 3pm.
July 13--Intocable
Intocable is a modern norteno (a popular Mexican music genre)
legend. Their outstanding body of work has earned them three
consecutive Grammy nominations along with one American Music
Award nomination. They have sold over 6 million records, with
their last three reaching #1 on the Latin charts. Chumash Casino

July 13--Concerts In The Park: Lisa Haley & the
Zydekats
It’s down-home, stomp-your-feet Cajun music with a 21st-century
twist from vocalist and fiddle-player Lisa Haley & The
Zydekats. Chase Palm Park, Cabrillo Boulevard at Calle Cesar
Chavez (Salsipuedes), Santa Barbara. Free, 6pm.
July 21--The Porchdogs: Live Concert
Concert on the patio featuring The Porchdogs' smoking Bluegrass
music. Selections from the Grill, local wines and more. Reservations

July 27--Al Green Concert
Sizzling soul with Al Green with special guests Crosby Loggins & The
Leadbirds. Green is one of the most popular and influential soul
singers in history and a longtime member of the Rock 'n Roll

July 28—Jazz at Lucas & Lewellen
Lucas & Lewellen winery will be staying open a little later
on Friday evenings this summer, featuring wine, cheese, live
jazz and good company. Summer Fridays are complimentary to Lucas & Lewellen
or Mandolina Wine Club members and the public is invited to join

July 29-- Kalyra Summertime Blues
The recipe is simple. Sit back, relax, sip some fine wine and

August 5—Mariachi Festival
This year marks the 11th anniversary of the Santa Barbara Mariachi
Festival. There will be a pre-mariachi entertainment starting
at 4:30pm. The show will start at 6pm at the Santa Barbara
Bowl. This year's exciting entertainment line up includes Beatriz
Adriana and the internationally recognized masters of Mariachis,
Mariachi Vargas. Tickets are available at the Santa Barbara

August 17--Concerts In The Park: Ten Mile Tide
Acoustic, folk-influenced rock from this San Francisco-based

August 19--12th Annual Multi-Cultural Dance & Music
Festival
SBDA brings together Santa Barbara's Ethnic communities with over 40 groups
performing on two stages. Celebrate our amazingly diverse culture with the
dancers, musicians, and enjoy dance lessons, international crafts and unique

August 25—Gainey Concert in the Vineyard
Head to Gainey Vineyards for Dianne Reeves, one of the pre-eminent
jazz vocalists in the world today. She has earned Grammy awards
for "Best Jazz Vocal Performance" for each of her
last three recordings, a Grammy first in any vocal category.
